How to use this calculator
Most makers undercount what a product costs, because the material cost hides inside a big bulk purchase. You buy a whole bag of wax or a case of jars, so the cost of the small amount that goes into one candle is easy to lose. This tool does that division for you.
Enter each material once. Say you paid $31.97 for a standard 10 pound bag holding 4,536 grams of wax, and one candle uses 175 grams. The tool works out that the wax in one candle costs about $1.23. Do that for every material, add your labor and packaging, and you have your real cost to make one. Compare it to your price and you have your margin.
The calculator opens with a soy candle prefilled at typical US supplier prices for 2026, just so you can see how it works. Change every number to match what you actually pay.
